Desert Tour

3 Days trip to Merzouga, Ait Benhadou, Dades & Todra Gorges.

Merzouga is perfectly situated at 40km from Erfoud & 40km from Rissani, known for its magical & highest dunes in the Moroccan Sahara desert. In recent years, it became one of the most visited places in southern Morocco alongside tours around the high Atlas Mountains or the imperial cities.

 

The desert has a beautiful sunrise and sunset, and in this trip we let you discover it yourselves in your own way.

Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech / Ait Benhadou / Ouarzazate / Todra Gorges

Departure from Marrakech at 7:00am on minibus. Traveling over the Atlas Mountains we cross Tizi n’Tichka (2260m) - the highest road on a mountain pass in Morocco - where we enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding areas including the zigzagging road.


On the way to Ouarzazate, we visit the fortified and famous Ksars and Kasbahs of Aït Benhaddou. We will then continue and cross Ouarzazate, enjoying the beauty of the Valley of the Roses & Kellat Mgouna. We will then leave the main road and drive to Dades valley, then continue through the small city of Tinghir to the magnificent Todra Gorges. Overnight at the hotel/Riad.

Day 2: Todra Gorges / Erfoud / Merzouga / Erg Chebbi

After breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the Todra Gorges and then travel to Merzouga through several beautiful desert towns; Tinjdad, Erfoud & Rissani.

At Merzouga, we will get ready for the camel trek to Erg Chebbi (2hrs), then stay overnight at the nomadic camp in the heart of the highest dunes in Morocco (150m), with a chance to see the sunset.

 

At the camp we will enjoy a traditional Berber dinner, with perhaps a little entertainment and a drum party. You can choose to sleep under the stars or in tents at our desert camp.

Day 3: Erg Chebbi / Merzouga / Alnif / Tazzarine / Agdez / Ouarzazate / Marrakech

We will wake up early to enjoy the views of sunrise in the desert. After breakfast, we'll have another camel ride back by a different way over the dunes to return to our waiting vehicle at Merzouga. We will pass through Alnif, Tazzarine and a part of the long Draa valley before arriving to Agdez and then continue to Marrakech via Ouarzazate & Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260m).

Arrival to Marrakech around 8pm, where we conclude our tour.
